John Robb released his new book "The North Will Rise Again" on Aurum Press.

Full of great characters, fierce conflicts, untold stories and seething controversies, its is the real story of the Manchester scene in the words of the musicians, promoters, club owners, managers and pundits.

John's had to use The Manchester Musical Royal Family for this book, which means documenting Morrissey, Ian Brown, Noel & Liam Gallagher, Mark E Smith, Johnny Marr, Shaun Ryder & the late, great Tony Wilson.

"I've spoken to just about everybody. In fact, the biggest problem has been keeping it all down to a manageable size. The book is around 155,000 words long as it is and it could have been double that. Ian Brown gave me 30,000 words to work with!" John said.

John is also author of the bestselling "The Stone Roses & The Resurrection of British Pop" & has been at the frontline of the Manchester music scene for 25 years and has direct access to all the key players.

As you know, we manage Alex' new project HFB which is also signed to Malicious Damage & an album should be dropping in late Autumn!

The title of this Orb album is "Baghdad Batteries".....nice!!!!!!!

Here is a slice of the press release:

"... the good Doctor sets the controls beyond any Earthly confines and gets down to stratospheric sound painting and advanced sonic science, sprinkled with an avant garde disregard for conventional structures. These startling electronic odysseys are hatched with long-time collaborator Thomas Fehlmann, The Orb's Berlin connection who's been there from the first album and last made his towering presence felt on 2005's Okie Dokie album for the renowned Kompakt label, bastion of Berlin techno. Such is the case with Baghdad Batteries where the pair have injected some of these breathtaking outings with a subterranean house pulse beamed up from the Earth's core, resulting in a new form of space disco which sounds as old as time itself while brushed with the most future-pointed minimal techno shadows..."

Hoop! To Remix Carler Werner Next Single!

Hoop! have been asked to remix the 4th-coming new single from USA act Carler Werner entitled "Give Me Your Love".

The track is a very chilled affair & we're sure that Hoop! will turn in one of their classic deep cuts ready for the release later this year.

Hoop! & "Grief" Set For Miami Compilation!

Hoop! 4th-coming single "Grief" (signed to Loverush Digital) is set to be included on the LRD compilation for Miami & this years MMC.

"Grief" which was an underground hit for the act (then called Nodding Dogs who had additional success with the popular "Hong Kong Elvis" on Inter-1, Manifesto & Positiva respectively) was originally put out via the legendary label Soundproof which had many other hits such as "Naughty North & Sexy South", "Feels So Right", "Cry Freedom" & many other club hits to many to mention as well (as launching many of todays major US & UK acts(, but sadly "Grief" never reached its Top 10 spot that Universal predicted (due to sales, DJ & radio responses), because the powers that be at Universal decided to close down Soundproof & thus ended the last label to offer development deals enabling them to develop the new major acts of tomorrow.

Loverush Digital are sure that the re-release of "Grief" with major remixes should once again make the impact the original did back in the glory days of dance!!!!

So, its official...Well done IHP!!!!

Kinky Roland Kick Starts 2009 With Andrea Britton!!!

It was a great 2008 for Kinky Roland, not only as one half of another one of Angel Artists chart topping acts, Loverush UK!, but also responsible he was responsible for two massive club hits already in 2008. Back in 2008 he unleashed the massive ''890 High'' which shortly followed with his 2008 remake of the Kirsty Hawkshaw classic ''Fine Day 2008'' which shot to Number 1 in the Buzz chart and became one of the biggest club anthems of 2008! Now he kicks starts 2009 with a mighty bang teaming up with the sex siren that is Andrea Britton (the voice behind the Sunfreakz smash "Counting Down The Days" and collaborations with dance pioneers DT8 Project, 4 Strings, Oxygen, Lustral, Loverush UK! to the funky Fierce Angel classic "Always Be Together" to the Liquid Nation monster anthem "Breathe Life"). The track is called "There's Something In Your Eyes" & is promotionally powered by those fantastic people over at Power Promotions.

Its out on Loverush Digital. Already hit the Buzz charts & is set for more club domination!!

Hoop! Reform & Sign To Loverush Digital!!!

Hoop! was a successful remix & production team back in the mid '90s remixing the likes of Diana Ross, Mylane Falmer, Shaft, David's Daughters, Jimmy Somerville & many more.

They also had various success with their own releases both as Hoop! & Nodding Dogs (namely "Hong Kong Elvis" & "Grief" placed on wax from Positiva, Manifesto, Sound Proof & Phuzz).

Towards the new Millennium, & unhappy with their then management, they decided to take a break to do their own thing, one member went onto successful artist management & agency work, whilst the other moved abroad & became a successful DJ, but contact was soon made again & at the end of 2008, they decided to reform after both agreeing that with their individual success's & experience, they were sure that they could make the right decisions & avoid the pitfalls that befell them back in the 90's.

The act then signed a 3 single & album deal with Loverush Digital & are set to re-release their classic club hit "Grief" together with new remixes from some of the hottest remixers in the club scene!

They are currently putting ideas together for the new album for LRD  so more news when we get it!

Its come full circle for Hoop!

Mark Picchiotti Has His 3RD Number 1 In Billboard Charts!

Mark Picchiotti has scored his THIRD number 1 in the Billboard Charts, this time with his amazing remix for The Killers!

He turned in a classic Picchiotti mix that is a sure fire hit, & this is his 1st number 1 of 2009!!!

His other recent Billboard top spot successes at the end of 2008 were Beyonce "Single Ladies/If I Were A Boy" & Michelle Williams "The Greatest"!!!

Loverush UK! No 12 In "Annual Chart Of The Year '08"

Loverush UK! (as you may well know) have spent an amazing 13 weeks in the Music Week main charts with Molly Bancroft with "Fountains If Youth" & has become an anthem in its own right, even now its still in the MW Top 40 & has been one of the biggest dance tracks to do that in '08!

Now to add even more news, the track has been placed at an unbelievable NUMBER 12 in their "Annual Chart Of The Year" most influential tunes beating many of what are seen in the industry as the UK's top electronic artists!

This chart is a points system based on a staggering 20,000 charts throughout the year & this is something we here at Angel Artists think the major industry A&R & the press should be taking notice of, as how many dance/electronic acts in the indie sector can boast that in the UK??

This act is fast becoming on of the UK's biggest exports after influential major USA industry types have informed us that they think this act could be MASSIVE there & the wheels have already started turning over for them there!

Add to this that their label Loverush Digital has been releasing tracks for over 2 years EVERY ONE has broke the Top 10 in ALL of the major club charts!!!!!

C'mon UK...SORT IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

xx

Angel Artists have teamed up with legendary Blitz nightclub legend & Visage frontman Steve Strange to complete brand new re-workings of the classics "Fade to Grey", "Pleasure Boys" & The Damned Don't Cry" for release in 2009.

Visage was a legendary electronic act in the early 90's before Soft Cell & Culture Club hit the charts & was started by Ultravox & Live Aid icon Midge Ure & Billie Curry whilst the act was fronted by Steve.

Though the act had many hits including "Night Train"& "Mind Of A Toy" amongst others, it was "Fade To Grey" that has edged itself on the mind of music history, & even though it has been remixed & released several times before, it is Angel Artists intention to release definitive versions of the track.

Mark Picchiotti Remixes NKOTB!

Mark Picchiotti is to remix the comeback single for New Kids On The Block over in the USA & we are sure that he will deliver an outstanding remix!

NKOTB were notably the first of the "Boy Bands" & arguably the most successful.

Mark is known for his production, writing & remix work for the likes of Kylie, Madonna & other world wide names (see his my space for more info) & is he set to release the follow up to the massive world wide hit to Basstoy "Turn It Up" which was released on AATW/Universal in 2008.

Alex Paterson To Present Award At Q Awards 2008

Our very own Alex Paterson of HFB/The Orb has been asked to present the "Outstanding Contribution To Music Award" to Pink Floyd legend Dave Gilmore @this years prestigious Q Awards to be held on 6th October at the Grosvenor Ballroom, London.

The event will be hosted by Alan Carr who is known as one of the UK's most popular comedians & who co-hosts the Channel 4 programme Sunday Night Project.

New Signings: Mark Picchiotti/Basstoy, Kinky Roland & Farouche!!

We are very pleased to announce that we are the exclusive worldwide management for the following acts:

MARK PICCHIOTTI/BASSTOY (Except North America)
KINKY ROLAND
FAROUCHE

Picchiotti needs no introduction, he has raked up so many worldwide productions & remixes that it would take us an eternity to tell you all about them, but let say that at one time or another, you WILL have danced the night away to at least one of his hits!

After having a major worldwide smash as Basstoy with "Turn It Up" on All Around The World/Universal in the Summer of '08, his remixes are still very much in demand, & with his Blueplate Records label in Chicago (the home of House music people!!!) going from strength to strength, 2009 will be a good year for this original 'originator' of house music!

Kinky Roland is one of the UK's premier producers & remixers, & like Picchiotti, the hits just keep on coming!!

Co-founder & co-owner of Europe's coolest dance label "Loverush UK" (via Power Promotions), Kinky (with partner Mark Loverush) has created some of Europe's most popular remixes & productions & the label & his remixes just keep on pushing the boundaries in music.

Also one half of S'Express with Mark Moore, The Twin with Boy George (& his writing partner) & writer/programmer for another legend Marc Almond, Kinky Roland just has so many strings to his bow that he should be re-named Kinky Robin Hood!!!!!

Farouche is to cool, tech driven house what Bran is to Kellogg's Bran Flakes...full of flavour & taste!!

This guy sure knows how to deliver a stompin' mix that such people as Audio Bully's & Loverush UK amongst others have sought that Farouche sound, that has now been heavily copied! Add to this his 154 Records digital radio show with the likes of Paul Van Dyk etc & a jam packed DJ schedule, you know that 2009 is gonna be a big year for him.

Check out his "Farouche Vocal Remix" for that prime time groove, or his infamous "154 Dub" for that more early morning sting!

HFB Remix "Fountain Of Youth" For Loverush UK

HFB are in the studio putting the finishing touches to the remix of "Fountain Of Youth" by Molly Bancroft which is to be released on the Loverush UK label in September '08.

Full release date will be announced on the site soon...

The packed tent got even fuller as the beats got harder & they played out their classics such as "Texas Cowboys" & the Balearic anthem "Flotation" as well as tracks from the recently released "Doppelganger" album on Some Bizzare.

Big thanks out go to the promoters at Glade for a fab night!

Long Range Finish Remix Of "Formula Of Fear" For Break legends Hybrid

Long Range have completed a new remix for breaks legends Hybrid.

The track is called "Formula Of Fear" & is a new direction for Long Range as they have gone more deeper than on previous mixes & productions.

This new direction Long Range are taking will also be prevalent on their next album which will be released on the LRR label.

The plan is to take the music into the commercial realm (what Phil as Orbital was known for) yet still trying to remain true to their original roots.

Long Range To Work With Beatbox Legend Beardyman

Long Range are scheduled to go into the studio with what is the world's greatest beatboxer (to us anyway!) Beardyman!

Hopefully this collaboration will be included on the forth-coming Long Range 2nd album due out sometime in 2009.

Beardyman is known as one of the best beatbox champions & has been featured on TV shows on
many occasions & not only is a talented individual, but he mixes comedy with his routines which makes a change from all the seriousness in the business!

Again, we'll keep you posted on developments.

The Grid Successful Live Set At The Glastonbury Festival

The Grid's performance at this years Glastonbury went down a storm!

They were 2nd to the top of the bill on the
West Stage in the Dance Village & the place was well & truly rammed!!

The set included new tracks from the recently released
"Doppelganger" album (out now on Some Bizzare via Plastic Head Distribution) as well as old fave's such as "Texas Cowboys" & "Flotation".

Also included on stage was
Kieran Evans who was responsible for the visual show on the night (pity the lighting outside spoilt the effect, but it was fab none the less!!).

We'll try post up some piccies of the performance when we get them!

Long Range Complete Movie Score For Director Matthew Thompson

Long Range have just completed the full score for Matthew Thompson's new movie "Dummy".

They have delivered a very cinematic score that fully complements the movie.

You can see a snippet of the score on the Long Range MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/longrangemusic

Matthew Thompson is perhaps best known for his critically acclaimed, award winning movie "London To Brighton" which featured a young girls friendship with a street girl as she runs away from London to escape some violent gangsters which ends up leaving the girl in grave danger.

The movie should be screened in 2009 & is already a favourite within the festival circuit.

The Grid & Long Range Have Fun At The Great Escape Festival

The Grid & Long Range has a great time on the "20th Anniversary Of Acid House" panel hosted by John Robb at The Great Escape Festival.

The place was packed as they spoke about their time at what is perhaps one of the best era's for dance music.

Dave Ball reminisced at his time as Soft Cell & how important they were in the development of electronic music (along with Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre & the likes), whilst Phil Hartnoll spoke of his time in Orbital with his brother Paul.

Richard Norris spoke of how The Grid's legendary track "Swamp Thing" was only meant to be a joke that ended up being an international hit!!

Nick Smith wondered what all the fuss was about as he was only a "nipper" (kid to all you US readers) when the "2nd Summer Of Love" erupted!!!

And how can we forget our brothers & sisters "across the pond" in the USA for their influence on our UK Acid House scene as together we all produced some classic Acid hits!

Props to Maurice, Roy Davis Jnr, Tyree, Marshall Jefferson, DJ Pierre & Josh Wink (who continues to be a major influence to the new breed of Acid producers such as the UK's Jesus Superstar! http://www.myspace.com/jesussup3rstar

John Robb was a fantastic host & we all enjoyed the day's events!

If you missed the festival.......SHAME ON YOU!!!

But if you're not in the UK.......believe us...it was fantastic!!!
